The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) announced that Peter Lantin has been unanimously appointed as Chair of its Board of Directors for a two-year term, starting 1 July 2024.
Lantin was first appointed to the PRPA Board of Directors by the Government of British Columbia in 2019 and is serving his second term as the provincial appointee. Throughout his time on the Board, he has held several key positions, including Vice Chair, Chair of the Sustainability and Audit Committees, and member of the Human Resources & Compensation Committee.
With over 20 years of experience in financial administration and governance, Lantin previously served as the President of the Haida Nation from 2012 to 2018. Before that, he chaired the Gwaii Trust, an organization responsible for managing a perpetual fund to benefit the people of Haida Gwaii.
He also held the role of Chief Operating Officer for TRICORP, an Indigenous-owned capital corporation that supports economic development, entrepreneurship, and skills training for Indigenous communities in Northwest B.C.
“The Port of Prince Rupert’s future is bright, and these next several years are pivotal in its evolution as an intermodal logistics and export hub. I am grateful to my fellow Board members for entrusting me with this responsibility and I am excited to continue to advance sustainable growth initiatives and further anchor the Port as a critical global trade gateway,” stated Lantin.
The Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Board of Directors consists of seven members. Three of these members are appointed by each level of government—municipal, provincial, and federal—while the remaining members are appointed by the federal government in consultation with the Port User Nominating Committee. Board members serve terms of up to three years, with a maximum of three terms allowed.
