Nigeria’s Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT), operated by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has introduced two new mobile harbour cranes (MHC) and a container freight station (CFS) to enhance its operations.

The newly acquired cranes, valued at over US$25 million, will boost OMT’s container handling capacity, reduce vessel turnaround times, and optimize overall cargo operations. This investment is in line with the growing demand for efficient port services and supports the federal government’s blue economy vision, according to ICTSI.

“These investments are aimed at further improving the terminal’s overall operations and represent the ICTSI Group’s commitment to boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade. We thank our partners in the government and stakeholders in the industry for their cooperation in achieving these milestones,” commented Jacob Gulmann, OMT CEO.

Additionally, the new CFS at Terminal 2 is expected to improve cargo processing and storage, streamlining the flow of goods and offering essential services to stakeholders in the region.
