Denmark-based bunker supplier Monjasa has brought in an LNG bunkering vessel on charter for deployment in the UAE.
The company’s move into the LNG bunkering space has seen NYK’s 5,000 cu m Green Zeebrugge fixed for an undisclosed period in what Monjasa says was a response to a growing demand for alternative fuels, including ships fuelled by LNG, which today account for more than 2% of the global fleet.
The Green Zeebrugge is set to become the first dedicated LNG bunker ship in the UAE, where Monjasa also was the first bunker supplier to deliver biofuels in 2022.
The 2017-built vessel is set to arrive in Dubai before the New Year and supply Monjasa’s first-ever LNG in January 2025. The company is currently working with port authorities, energy companies, and shipowners to finalise the development of adequate bunkering infrastructure.
