Marine geoscience and offshore construction support player Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) has won a marine route survey deal worth around €43m ($45.2m) from Dutch-German transmission system operator TenneT.
The contract involves extensive geophysical and geotechnical survey activities, both offshore and nearshore, in the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone.
Operational activities, scheduled to take place between the end of the first and fourth quarter of 2025, will include the execution of a marine route survey, required for the design of cable connections that link the Doordewind wind area to the onshore grid.
Specifically, NextGeo will perform geophysical investigations and geotechnical sampling covering an area exceeding 210 sq km.
The project is part of TenneT’s initiative aimed at developing a new generation of HVDC grid connections to integrate 2GW of offshore wind energy into the European electrical grid by 2031.
In related company news, NextGeo expanded its fleet last week with the acquisition of an MPSV from Norway’s Beitveit Holding. The company is paying €6.75m ($7.1m) for the 2010-built Sea Admiral, which will be renamed NG Explorer and used for geophysical, geotechnical, environmental, and UXO surveys.
