Bearing AI has unveiled its artificial intelligence-powered Cargo Prediction tool, designed to empower tramp chartering managers in the spot market. With just one click, users can accurately predict a vessel’s next loading port, which the American company claims will deliver more competitive pricing and superior strategic positioning.
Bearing AI’s Cargo Prediction replaces the standard return route backhaul in time charter calculations with an AI-powered prediction of the next loading port.
The tool also predicts demand for each vessel and identifies where to secure the next cargo.
“With AI-powered Cargo Prediction, we’re giving chartering managers new insights to outmanoeuvre the competition and make every voyage more profitable,” said Aleksandar-Saša Milaković, senior product manager at Bearing AI. “It’s not just about winning the next bid—it’s about seeing what’s ahead, positioning strategically, and unlocking the full earning potential of every vessel.”
Like this year’s edition, many of the world’s top shipping tech firms are scheduled to attend next April’s Geneva Dry with cargo prediction tools expected to be discussed during the Digital Efficiency Drivers At Sea session on April 29.
Willem Vermaat, shipping director at cement giant Heidelberg Materials Trading, a speaker in the Minor Bulks session, also scheduled for April 29, told Splash last month: “What we believe is still missing, despite many attempts, is a freight predictor which has a high degree of accuracy. With the amounts of data available and the fast-developing machine learning capabilities, this will be the holy grail to discover.”
