PSA Antwerp, a deepsea terminal operator, and Antwerp-based rail terminal Combinant have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create an integrated service enhancing connectivity between PSA’s deepsea terminals and the Combinant Rail Terminal at the Port of Antwerp.
This collaboration aims to promote a modal shift from road to rail, strengthening maritime intermodal rail solutions within the Belgian port.
With the growing demand for fast, cost-efficient, and sustainable transport options between the deepsea port and its hinterlands, rail is emerging as a viable alternative to road transport.
A new trucking service will link PSA’s two deepsea terminals on the Scheldt’s right bank (Noordzee and Europa Terminals) to the Combinant rail terminal in the northern part of the port.
